Identity is part of the architecture
An automation workflow needs a way to prove who it is and what it may do. Long-lived keys make that identity portable in ways that are difficult to contain. Temporary credentials move the design toward a specific execution context and a limited lifetime.
Make permission boundaries explicit
List the operations the workflow needs, the resources it touches, and the conditions under which access should be granted. Test both expected access and expected denial. A successful happy path does not establish that the boundary is correct.
Preserve the evidence
Structured logs should make an audit operation understandable without exposing credentials or sensitive payloads. Record the action, resource, result, and enough correlation context to investigate a failure. AuditTrail SDK is a reference project for resource auditing with temporary AWS credentials.
